“Kiburi la Afrika” is a Swahili translation for “Pride of Africa”. The “Kiburi la Afrika” International project is an Edutainment socio-cultural initiative geared towards discovering and presenting a Queen who can truly be called the ‘Pride of Africa’ to the world. “Kiburi la Afrika” is the first socio-cultural and historical Pan-African project that aims to identify with the unforgettable legacies of the past heroines of Africa, publicizing their lives and times; struggles and victories to the world through education and entertainment, in such a way that beauty and brains are modeled to birth the heroines of the present age. By equipping our young girls with the memories of Africa’s past heroines, we hope to produce a beauty queen that epitomizes beauty, brains, passion, honour and the spirit of heroism; a queen that could bravely and boldly represent the true spirit of Africa – African cultures, beliefs and value systems – and above all, be bold enough to project the interest of African women at home and in diaspora.
In essence, “Kiburi la Afrika” is a project charged with the responsibility of retelling the Africa stories through beauty pageant, festival of colours, documentary, project presentation, talent display, cultural exhibition and lots more in a bid to rewrite history by taking the world back to where the future of Africa was. The sole idea behind the “Kiburi la Afrika” project is to empower the young females of Africa through the invocation of the memories of past heroines of African in a bid to reposition them to take their rightful place in the grand societal arrangement, boldly re-presenting their cultural heritage to the world.
